I just finished playing VETO, and wow, what a ride. The atmosphere is genuinely chilling, you can feel the dread of the characters. And also Ellen's frustration trying to deal with her flatmates. The setting is very intriguing — dystopian city, and yet life goes on in the apartment. It creates tension, like asking yourself when would something go horribly wrong.
The horror is subtle in a way that creeps up on you with the psychological aspect of the characters mental states. The visuals do a lot in this regard. I love the style, so unique yet fitting for the story at hand! It's what drew me to the VN and is still my favourite part.
The gameplay is nice. I got a bit frustrated on *that working on the computer* scene. I'm still not sure how I actually progressed there (although I successfully did somehow :D). I liked the card game. Here I was writing down all the cards the flatmate used in attempt to beat him. I don't know if I could influence the outcome of the card game but it was a fun exercise never the less.
Overall, VETO is such a unique experience. It’s got an incredible mix of eerie storytelling, memorable characters, and cool art style. If you’re into psychological horror, give it a shot. It's short but it keeps you engaged.
man this is the true flatmate experience. id love to hear your thoughts behind this game!! The themes are very interesting. I finished it!! I'll have to replay and see all the secrets, im not good at this card game lolll. thanks so much for making it!!
Hi, thanks for the comments, and thank you so much for playing the game! I'm glad you enjoyed the themes, it's a whole lot of "the individual/the mind vs society/the state of the world".
